Chapter 48

How often has deceit tried madly to pierce it through the ribs, yet it did not succeed in its goal. Soon, its vanguard shall dawn upon the world, triumphant... how glad we are for its arrival! (1) ¶

This is what I have seen fit to record, and what my limited research and knowledge have reached. I do not claim to have reached the end or perfection in this, but it suffices me to exemplify the words of the poet: ¶

By my life, I have spent my strength in research, and spared no effort in capturing high ideals. I roamed and searched through the pages, wishing I could emerge free of debts—neither owing anyone nor having anyone owe me (2) ¶

I wish to clarify to the esteemed reader that in this humble treatise, I did not intend to seek the pleasure or censure of the majority of people. Rather, all I desired was to take steps in the path of Allah and for His pleasure, regardless of people's stance on it. My state in this is like the words of the one who said: ¶

I offered to Allah what I offered of deeds, and it is of no concern to you whether they blame you or thank you (3) ¶

O Allah, make us among those whom You have described with Your words: ﴿They say: 'Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts any resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful'﴾ (4). ¶

O Allah, make us a source of peace for Your allies and a source of war for Your enemies. We love for the sake of Your love those who love You, and we oppose with Your enmity those who oppose You. O Allah, this is our supplication, and the answer is upon You. And the final call is that all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. ¶
